Pair 18th C. Italian Columns on Stands
A pair of Italian columns, from the early 18th century, displayed on iron stands. This exquisite pair of early 18th century architectural columns from Italy, standing at over 6 feet tall, have gesso and gilt over wood, with carved frieze vertically at front, and curled leaf extensions carved at front and sides just beneath the top platform. Their upper platform tops overhang in rectangular-fashion and extend out from the column body, which subtly tapers towards their bottom. The columns are hallowed, at back centers, and have been mounted on custom black iron stands. Due to their un-decorated backsides, best use for these would be placed against a wall. There are remnants of pale red ochre found along the fronts, and a dark green down each side. Please note that one column is slightly narrower than it's pair as it does not have some of the vertical trim flanking it's far rear sides. These exceptional 18th century architectural embellishments from Italy are what we like to refer to as a "room maker."Dimensions

There are some losses, cracks, and prior repairs. However, we feel this pair of columns are exquisite and think the delicious cracking and patina only add to their beauty.
