A late 18th-early 19th century Italian giltwood and carved swan. This wonderfully expressive antique swan from Italy features outstretched wings, and curled feet tucked up under its belly as if in flight. The head is dramatically swayed and turned out to its left, with mouth subtly open. It is elaborately carved with beautifully detailed feathers. The giltwood finish has a nicely aged patina, showcasing its history. This late 18th century Italian swan will make a lavish statement piece mounted against a wall or perhaps suspended from a ceiling.
