A large Guatemalan wooden coffee mortar from the 19th century. This antique mortar from Guatemala is made from a log, interior carved and hallowed by fire, in beautiful primitive fashion, with interior showing their charred walls. These sizable wooden mortars were used in grinding substantial amounts of coffee bean during the 19th century. This antique coffee mortar, standing over two feet in height, would make a wonderful decorative object in a kitchen, or perhaps in the family room housing your favorite throw.
