A collection of three framed French 18th century Bernard Direx renderings. This is a set comprised of framed architecture, astronomy and geometric renderings from French artist Bernard Direx. Each rendering was originally part of a larger book, and are copper plate engraved (a printing process by which a plate was etched or engraved with the image and then put through a press, hence the slight depression around the margin of the sheet). One is labeled "Astonomie", Suppl. Pl. 6., another "Architecture", Suppl. Pl. 5, and the third "Gnomonique" Suppl Pl. 6. Gnomonique is a French term, from the Greek gnomon indicator, which is the art of designing, calculating and plotting sundials or circles, as commonly used in architecture and science. This collection of French 18th framed renderings would make a beautiful artistic statement together on a living room, hall or office wall.
