A British Colonial pair of exquisitely carved wood deer from the 19th century. These antique ornamental pair of deer from India each features a three-dimensional hand-carved sculpture of a deer who appear as if resting in a sitting position, front knees tucked under chest, with an alert, backward facing head and fitted with a pair of beautifully pointed, real antlers. The deer are nicely sized at approximately 2 feet 4 inches tall, and 2 feet 4 inches wide. These pieces have a lovely old weathered patina, and areas of split wood (which are not compromising the integrity, but showing their history and age. These endearing pair of 19th century carved-wood deer at rest, would be delighted to find themselves within your home, perhaps finding a comfortable spot seated next to your hearth or atop a large console table.
