Early 19th C. Carved & Gilt Eagles, Italy
An Italian pair of carved and gilt wood aquilae (eagles) from the early 19th century. This antique pair of eagles from Italy, with their nicely textured bodies, have each been hand-carved in a perched position, with head angled inquisitively, breast exposed and out with wings outward, and talons gripping onto a branch. The birds are each displayed upon a mahogany and gilt pedestal base, which is not original but rather a later addition to these pieces. This pair of magnificent Italian giltwood eagles, from the early 19th century, will make a handsome pair of decorations for your home or office.
