An Italian large-sized wood mirror, with its original hand-painted and gilt finish, from the 18th century. This antique mirror from Italy is a large sized piece at approximately 4.5 feet wide and 6.5 feet in height. This rectangular-shaped mirror has a thick surround with cleanly molded edges found along the perimeter and inner surround, and has been hand-painted in large geometric patterns about all sides. The inner surround is gilt, and larger hand-painted surround is faux-marbled primarily in shades of red (with yellow veining) and black (with green veining). There is a wonderfully aged patina found throughout the wood frame; a lovely reflection of its age and history. Please note that the glass center is not original and has been replaced at one point. The bold design and large presence of this mirror will no doubt make this a statement piece for your home; suitable for both modern and traditional design aesthetics. There are no other descriptive words for this 18th century Italian mirror other than fabulous!
