18th C. Large-Size Flemish Verdure Tapestry
A Flemish large-sized hand-woven verdure tapestry from the 18th century. This antique textile from Belgium, approximately 8 feet 4 inches wide by 9 feet 3 inches tall, is an artful depiction of birds within a scenic forested landscape setting and castle with village at background, all nicely framed with a foliate and scroll motif boarder (or alentours). These tapestries were created to adorn the walls of castles and palaces, while also offering insulating value during winter months.
