Antique Italian Mirror, Fruit Garland Motif
This Item Is Is SoldAn Italian beautifully carved wood mirror from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique mirror from Italy, mostly rectangular in shape, has a richly carved frame/surround with a shell prominently raised, flanked with bundles of roses and downward sloping shoulders with garland tops. Either long side of the frame are carved with fruit and flower garlands hanging down, with outer surround having a clean/linear line and inner frame taking the shape of the garlands which adds movement about the mirror edging. The bottom of the frame is adorn with carved acanthus leaves. The richly toned wood has a nicely aged patina throughout. Please note that the backside of this piece is newer, and has been replaced at one point. This late 18th century Italian mirror, standing approximately 5.25 feet in height, would make a fabulous focal point hanging above a fireplace, or perhaps over a console table greeting you within an entry foyer.
