An Italian reclining wood and upholstered chair from the early 19th century. This antique chair from Italy has a rectangular-shaped back with wood arched top rail, nicely carved knuckles, manchette arm rests, and are raised upon sweetly curved legs with curvy x-stretcher bracing them just above their feet. An iron mechanism connects each side to the back, which can be adjusted to allow for different reclining positions while seated. The arms, backs, and seats have all been newly upholstered in a neutral Belgian linen, which contrasts beautifully against the darker wood. This 19th century Italian lounging armchair would be a wonderful addition to a home office, living room, or bedroom reading area.
