French Iron Spit-Jack 10 Light Chandelier
A vintage French ten-light forged-iron chandelier made from a 19th century spit-jack. This French hanging light-fixture, from the mid 20th century, has been fashioned from an earlier 19th century spit-jack, which was once used as a type of rotisserie that was common in fireplaces. This chandelier has ten swagged arms; five outward along each long side of the spit-jack, each topped with petal-shaped iron bobèches and painted candle sleeves within their centers. Two wide and rectangular-shaped linked chains with upper iron hooks connect the light-bar to an upper, horizontally positioned, forged-iron beam whose ends each terminate in down-facing scrolls. A single upright hook at the center of this bar brings you to the top of this light fixture. The iron has a beautifully aged patina throughout. This vintage French spit-jack chandelier has been rewired for the US and comes with a complimentary 3-foot chain and canopy painted to match.
