Antique Red Tole & Crown Top Lantern, Italy

An Italian red tôle lantern from the early 20th century. This antique lantern from Italy has a cut crown at its top, adorned with embossed swags and florals. The lantern beneath is decorated with pierced cut-outs in a petite diamond and flower heard motif. The rectangular panels are set with frosted glass (to create an octagonal form beneath the round-shaped top), with one panel opening as a door to reveal the single light housed within. A ball finial completes the look at bottom. There is a red tôle finish, which is old, but may not be original to this piece. Note that the wiring is older, and may need to be rewired to modern standards.
