French Period Rococo Bleached-Wood Chest
A French period Rococo commode, with subtle scalloped front, from the 18th century. This antique Rococo chest from France has a lightly-scalloped shape along it's front, with top carved to mimic the shape of the case below, which houses a pair of half-drawers at top over two full sized drawers, all flanked within reed-carved front side posts (with reeding continuing down to their feet). Each of the dove-tailed drawer fronts is paneled in heavy molding and fitted with elaborate brass Rococo hardware, depicting male and female figures within their design. The wood has a bleached finish. This handsome French period Rococo chest has a beautifully carved skirt across it's front, and is presented upon squared legs.
