A fabulous Italian carved walnut wood chest of three drawers from the early 18th century. This antique commode from Italy is exquisitely flanked with a pair of carved side posts with volute tops and curled leafy foliage which protrudes outward from each side, giving this piece a "winged" look. The rectangular-shaped top is accentuated with an egg and dart trim underneath it's front, with three nicely-sized, dove-tailed drawers housed below, each adorn with burled walnut, decoratively raised plaque-style panels, and a carved garland trim between them, adding visual separation between each drawer. A leaf motif trim outlines the front skirt along the bottom, and the chest is presented on bunn style feet. The walnut wood has a lovely old patina; a reflection of the history and age of this piece. There is plentiful storage within this good-sized chest! This early 18th century Italian walnut commode is a stand out piece of furniture!
