19th C. Petite Cabinet w/Acanthus Carvings
A small-sized Central European painted wood cabinet with single drawer and door from the 19th century. This sweet little cabinet from Central Europe is fitted with a small-sized single drawer within it's apron, resting just above a single door which opens to reveal a shelf for storage within. The front side posts are canted, and carved with three-dimensional acanthus leaves with project outward to give this piece a delicate "winged" appearance. There is a visual lightness to this piece, not only due to it's size, but also the airiness from being raised off of the ground; presented upon onion-carved feet at front and slender bracket feet at back. The color palette is a light blue/gray with gold and taupe accents. This 19th century European cabinet would be such a cute piece used as an end table or perhaps to house linens or toiletries in a powder room.
