A Large Dutch Bombé Cabinet, Early 19th C.
A Dutch bombé nicely carved and painted tall cabinet from the early 19th century. This antique chest from the Netherlands features a classic Dutch style with ornately carved pediment crowning above the upper cabinet which houses a pair of decoratively-paneled doors, and resting above the shapely lower cabinet, with exaggerated and canted side posts, and fitted with three cascading drawers. The drawers are graduated in size and are each adorn with intricately detailed pulls and escutcheons at their center. The front skirt is beautifully along the front side, while remaining straight along the sides. The canted side posts terminate into curled volute style feet, with a layering of textural swags lining the front side of each foot. This piece has a scraped finish with primary colors being in shades of cream, a gray wash, and blue accents. Please note that this cabinet breaks down into 7+ pieces, with removable doors, making for easier transport and installation. Should you choose to use this piece to house a tv within the top, the measurements at interior door sides are 47"wide by 36" tall and the center board is removable. This classic Dutch bombé cabinet, from the early 19th century, provides plentiful storage within, and a luxurious sculptural quality and presence within your room.
