Ornately Trimmed & Painted Buffets, c. 1937
A pair of nicely carved and painted wood two door buffet cabinets, circa 1937. This pair of American cabinets bear a maker's mark on back which reads "Fashioned by Hand at the Manor House Furniture Works Ltd. Of the choicest Materials and with the most Meticulous Care, April 1937." And as the tag reads, this pair of well-made beauties have been exquisitely carved and trimmed in egg-n-dart and foliage inspired designs. The serpentine bodies are fitted with a pair of decoratively-paneled doors at front, flanked within canted side posts adorn with volute carved tops which have a vertically carved floral garland tricking downward, and are presented on platform bases. The doors open to a shelving on the inside, which maximizes their storage potential. This pair of credenza cabinets have a newer, custom gray/blue coloring (which still allows the wood grain to show through from beneath), and a charcoal accent color with hints of dark blue.
