19th C. French Commode w/Faux Marble Top
This Item Is Is SoldA French carved-wood chest of drawers with faux painted marble top, from the 19th century. This antique commode from France features a beautifully shallow, break-front style shape which is echoed from the top, down through the middle of the each drawer, and finally dropping into a slightly hanging skirt at front center. The top of this chest has a faux marbled finish, in soft shades of blue and gray, which is slightly overhung with slightly-profiled projections at the front corners and stepped out back pieces along each side. Fluted carvings adorn the front side posts, and all sides of the four petite squared legs from which give rise to this chest. The custom body color is a blue/gray tone with a muted white wash over the top. Neoclassical style hardware adorn the drawer fronts, with shield-shaped escutcheons set at center. This 19th century French commode, with its angular carvings and artfully painted exterior, will make a perfect decorative storage piece for just about any room in your home!
