A French raised commode with marble top and inlays from the 19th century. This antique chest from France has a marble top with ogee-edging and rounded at front corners, atop a case which houses two deep-set, dove-tailed drawers, and raised upon rounded legs which terminate into arrow feet. The drawer fronts are adorn with a rectangular-shaped inlay, accentuated with banding about the edges and fitted with with neoclassical-style brass wreathed ring-pull handles flanking the bowed-topped escutcheon at their centers. The sides mimic the loving inlay design of the drawer fronts, and ebonized inlay runs vertically down the side-posts and onto the legs, giving them a fluted appearance. This 19th century French raised chest, with its marble top and wood grains, will be a fabulous storage and display piece for your home.
