A French neoclassical style raised two-drawer side chest, with lower shelf, from the 19th century. This antique small-sized commode from France has a rectangular-shaped top with rounded corners, atop a case which house two drawers, and raised upon squared legs, which taper slightly towards their feet, with a lower, open display shelf braced between them. Beautiful neoclassic style carvings adorn the chest with ornately carved drawer fronts in a foliage motif with ribbon encircling the center escutcheons. Side posts are fluted with patera carvings adorning their centers, continuing down onto the legs. The bleached wood is complimented with a custom silver/gray accent color on the trim. This 19th century French side chest with shelf, will function beautifully as and end table to a seating arrangement, in a powder room with towels rolled up and presented upon the bottom shelf, or perhaps an lovely accent piece at the end of a hallway with floral arrangement atop- endless functionality!
