A French Régence period serpentine chest, with inlays and relief carved accents, from the 18th century. This antique commode from France has a shapely serpentine body, which is wider at backside and tapers slightly at front. There is a beautiful lattice style inlay adorning the top of this piece with a star at center. Front side posts are rounded and feature relief carvings in a delicate floral motif. The case houses two half drawers atop a pair of full sized drawers, fitted with elaborate metal pulls with matching escutcheon set at center. Please note that there are some metal pieces missing at the top sides of the hardware pulls. Please refer to the images for more details. The gently swaged skirt has a lovely carved leaf motif with shell at center, along three sides. This piece is presented upon petite carved cabriole legs. This 18th century French Régence period commode will be an elegant storage piece, while adding a sculptural and decorative presence to your room.
