An Early 19th C. French Painted Cabinet
A French cabinet with faux marble painted top from the early 19th century. This antique buffet from France features a slightly overhanging rectangular-shaped top (brown colored faux marble), above a case which houses a pair of recessed panel drawers set horizontally at top, over a pair of decoratively raised panel doors at front. A lovely scored diamond and dot/floral pattern adorns the recessed areas about the front side of the cabinet, and raised-panel sides flank each end. The skirt has straight lined molding and the piece is presented upon block feet. The pair of doors open to reveal storage within, and a single shelf at the middle. A beautiful muted blue/green coloring makes up the primary palette of this chest, with some hints of taupe about the accent trim, and wood showing in various areas. There is a fabulous old patina throughout, and any areas of cracking just add to the charm and character of this piece. This versatile early 19th century French storage cabinet would function well within a kitchen for extra work/storage, or perhaps in a living area or bedroom, while adding a subtle hint of color and design to your space.
