French 2-Drawer Raised Chest, Early 19th C

A French raised two-drawer, painted wood commode from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped top, over a case which houses two full-sized and recessed panel drawers (each fitted with a pair of rectangular brass pulls), flanked within fluted side posts, and raised upon gracefully-cylindrical legs with a subtle taper towards their peg-style feet. There is a custom gray (various shades) wash which still allows wood undertones to show through from beneath, and gold accents. This early 19th century French raised chest would work well in a bedroom as a dresser or bedside table, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
