French Neoclassic Chest w/Marble & Brass
A French Neoclassic painted wood chest, with its original marble top, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France features its original white marble top, which rests atop a neoclassical case fitted with three full size, dove-tailed, graduated drawers. Brass bands accentuate the cabinet, wrapping along the front and both sides between the first and second drawer, and again along the skirt. The recessed panel drawers are each trimmed with brass, and have brass rectangular bail-pull handles flanking the escutcheon at their centers. The chest is raised nicely upon conical legs with stylized brass accents at their tops, and terminate into brass feet. The custom light blue/gray wash is quite lovely against the white marble and brass accents. Note that the original marble top has some old stains; please refer to the additional images for more details on condition. This early 19th century French commode will add a nice Neoclassic design to a bedroom, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
