A French Neoclassical period chest with its original marble top from the early 19th century. This antique commode from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top, with pronounced rounded corners, which rests atop a neoclassically carved case with rounded and fluted side posts (wrapped with brass accents at top) which flank three full size graduated drawers. Each of the dove-tailed drawers are adorn with brass trim, rectangular bail-pull handles flanking the escutcheon at their centers. The top drawer has dividers within, and flute carved accents on its facade. This commode is presented upon conical legs with brass accents about the top and feet. This piece has a rich wood grain, which plays nicely with the brass hardware/trimmings, and marble top in hues of gray, white, and black. This early 19th century French chest-of-drawers is a beautiful Neoclassical piece for your home, offering storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop.
