French Commode w/Discreet Lift Top, 19th C.
A French Neoclassic chest of three drawers with lift top storage, from the 19th century. This antique commode from France has a slightly overhanging, rectangular-shaped top which lifts to reveal hidden storage beneath (a shallow/open area as well as four small drawers set within backside). Dentil molding adorns the underside of the top lip. The case houses three full-sized, graduated, dove-tailed, raised-panel drawers, flanked within flute-carved side posts, and is raised upon squared feet. Each of the drawers are fitted with Neoclassical brass pulls (with urn figures adorning their back-plates), and escutcheon at center. The skirt is clean and straight. The fruitwood has has a nice patina, and top has an added coat of poly protective finish. This 19th century French Neoclassical chest will make a lovely decorative storage and display addition to your bedroom, while also providing a very handy lift-top feature for keep-safe items to be discreetly hidden away!Dimensions
