French Period Neoclassical Empire Commode
This Item Is On HoldA French Neoclassic Empire painted wood commode, with fossilized marble top and Greek key accents, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France features a fossilized marble top (in dark gray), atop a case which houses three full-sized drawers flanked within column-carved front side posts, a clean/linear skirt, and raised upon block style feet. Each of the dove-tailed drawers is fitted with a pair of lion's head brass ring pulls with a shield-shaped escutcheon at their center. The newer custom finish is primarily blue/gray with hints of green, and a charcoal gray trim accentuates the column side posts and Greek key trim which embellishes the skirt. This French Neoclassical Empire period chest-of-drawers is versatile enough to work within many rooms throughout your home; a beautiful case piece offering storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop.
