A French Neoclassical style three-drawer commode from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped top which slightly overhangs the case below which houses three graduated drawers flanked within fluted side-posts, clean/linear skirting, and nicely raised on four squared legs which gently taper towards their feet. The full-sized and dove-tailed drawers are each adorn with recessed panel front facades outlined in brass trimming, and fitted with a great hardware including a pair of brass rectangular bail-pull pulls with escutcheon at their center. The medium wood has a lovely aged patina, which contrasts nicely with the brass. Everything is original to this piece with exception to one leg that has had prior repairs and the wood finish.
