French Serpentine Commode, Early 19th C.
A French carved-wood serpentine commode, with slender depth, from the early 19th century. This antique chest from France has been designed with a subtle serpentine-shaped body, with skirt carved on three sides, and raised on four petitely-carved cabriole legs. The case houses a pair of half-sized drawers at top over a pair of full-sized drawers below (for a total of four drawers) and are fitted with Neoclassic style brass ring pulls. A beautifully carved shell, flanked within leafy garlands, accentuates the front center of the skirt. There is a new custom lightly bleached finish which has been complimented with a light gray accent trim. This early 19th century French commode, with its soft curves and lovely finish, will be a wonderful case piece for your storage and display needs.
