A French Neoclassic style carved-wood commode from the mid 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular top over a neoclassical case designed with clean lines and flute-carved side posts which flank three full-sized drawers. The chest is raised on spaded feet with fluted details. The dovetailed drawers are each fitted with their original Neoclassical hardware with wreath & bow motif, including the pair of handles flanking the escutcheon at center. This piece is has rich and beautiful wood grain throughout, creating a pleasing visual interest.
