An Italian walnut chest of drawers from the 18th century. This antique cassettiera (chest of drawers) from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top with canted front corners, atop case which houses four graduated drawers, flanked within fluted and decoratively-carved side posts, and raised paneled sides. Each drawer front is adorn with a pair of cartouche style raised panels, fitted with its original hardware; a pair of pull handles an escutcheon at center. This case piece has a nicely molded skirt rail and is raised upon thickly-carved feet. The walnut finish is faded into a wonderful patina and antique condition true to its centuries old history. This 18th century Italian chest will be a handsome addition to a bedroom, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
