A French Neoclassical commode with four drawers and marble top from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top, over case which houses four drawers (upper drawer is disguised within the top frieze), designed in clean and linear lines with straight skirt, and presented upon four block style feet. Each of the lower three dove-tailed drawers is adorned with their original hardware; a pair of brass lion's head ring pulls and single shield-shaped escutcheon at center. The marble is a dark slate color with light gray flecks, which is a lovely contrast against the fruitwood. This 19th century French Neoclassical chest-of-drawers will make a handsome case-piece for your home, offering storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop.
