18th C. French Serpentine Raised Side Chest

A French small-sized serpentine chest from the 18th century. This antique commode from France features a serpentine front and curvy sides, three dove-tailed drawers housed between round front side posts adorn with elongated recessed panels, and a carved and scalloped skirt on three sides. Each drawer is fitted with the original hardware; a pair of brass ring pulls and a round escutcheon at their center. A pair of tall rectangular-shaped recessed panels adorns either cabinet side. The chest is presented nicely upon cabriole style legs. There is a new custom finish primarily in grey and taupe with a slate/navy contrast trim. This 18th century French raised chest is a great versatile piece which would be perfect for a nightstand, end table, or simply a charming accent case-piece for a hall or powder room.
