A Spanish carved-wood two drawer chest console from the mid 20th century. This mid-century chest from Spain is quite a unique and whimsical piece! It features a rectangular-shaped top, which rests above a case that houses a pair of full-sized drawers, has a beautifully scalloped apron about the front and both sides, and is presented upon a pair of trestle-style carved legs, with front feet having a hoof shape when viewed from the side. The upper drawer is full-sized, though it has been carved in such a fashion as to give the appearance of several small drawers, with a lattice pattern square within the center. The lower drawer and front sides posts have floral and leaf-carved accents. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of simple metal ring pulls. The bleached wood finish is complimented with a creamy taupe accent trim. This delightful Spanish raised chest would make a fabulous console chest for an entry foyer, living room, or even a kitchen.
