French Neoclassic-Style Bleached Wood Chest

A French Neoclassical style carved and bleached wood commode. This vintage chest from France features a rectangular-shaped top with pronounced and rounded corners, atop a neoclassical inspired case that houses three small drawers set horizontally across the top, over two full sized drawers below; for a total of five drawers. Each of the drawers are dove-tailed and fitted with Neoclassical style ring pulls and escutcheons in a wreath and tied-bow motif. Fluted details further embellish the front and rear side posts and conical legs (which terminate into brass feet). The custom silver and gold trim gives a subtle contrast against the newly bleached wood body. This well-made piece has a maker's name of "R. Trotel" carved into the inside drawer as can be seen in additional images, and we guess the age to be around the 1970's. This French Neoclassic style chest would work really well in a bedroom as a dresser, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
