A French Neoclassical commode with marble top from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped marble top, with pronounced rounded corners at front, which rests atop a neoclassical case with rounded and fluted side posts which flank three full size graduated drawers, a clean-line skirt, and is presented upon conical legs which taper gently to their feet. Each of the dove-tailed drawers are fitted with a pair of brass rectangular bail-pulls, and a shield-shaped escutcheon keyhole at their centers. The upper drawer has 3 compartments for organizing. There is a custom grey wash (which still allows much of the natural wood grain to show through in various areas), a light accent trim, all which compliment the original marble top comprised of black, grey, and white coloring. Please note that the marble has some staining, as can be viewed in the additional images. This 19th century French Neoclassic commode will make a lovely addition within your home, offering storage within and a place for desired objects to be prominently displayed atop.
