A French Neoclassical four drawer commode, with its original metal hardware and accents, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped top, which slightly overhangs the case which houses four drawers (upper drawer is disguised within the top frieze), flanked within a pair of rounded column style front side posts, a straight skirt, and presented upon rounded front feet and block style feet at rear. The original column bandings (at top and bottom) and beautifully decorated knob pulls and escutcheons on the drawer fronts, complete the look. The fruitwood is rich and warm, with a wonderful old patina. The 44.25" width is a really unusual and neat size for this style piece. This 19th century French Neoclassical commode has a masculine feel to it that will make a stately expression and a fabulous case-piece for your home.
