A French wooden commode, with inlay details and gorgeous marble top, from the 19th century. This antique chest from France is topped with the most spectacular marble; full of movement and shades of grey, taupe, and off white. The marble has a subtle break-front design and smoothly rounded front corners that top the case below, which is fitted with a pair of stacked drawers which continue the subtle breakfront design, flanked within rounded front side posts. The case is nicely embellished with book-match veneer and various inlay patterns in both an ebonized and lighter wood. The skirt is scalloped about three sides and this piece is presented upon four squared and tapering legs. Each of the drawers are fitted with neoclassical hardware. This 19th century French commode, with its showy marble top and embellished case, will make a handsome smaller-sized chest; perfectly suited for just about any room in the home!
