A French Neoclassical carved wood commode from the 19th century. This antique chest from France features a rectangular-shaped top with pronounced and outwardly rounded front corners, atop a neoclassical designed case that houses three full-sized and graduated recessed panel drawers, flanked within flute-carved rounded front side posts. Each of the drawers are dove-tailed and fitted with round ring pulls and a center escutcheon in a wreath and tied-bow motif. This chest is presented upon a pair of turned front legs that terminate into brass feet, with rear legs being straight. There is a custom earthy/tan finish with a very faint umber undertones. Please note that the boards on the back have been replaced. This 19th century French Neoclassic chest would work really well in a bedroom as a dresser, or perhaps in a foyer or living area with decorative items atop and storage within.
