18th C. Italian Tall Cabinet w/Early Paint
An Italian tall "armadietto" cabinet, with very early paint, from the 18th century. This antique cupboard from Italy, which stands just shy of 7 feet in height, has a two-part design (like a buffet à deux-corps buffet consisting of an upper and lower case). The upper case, which is set back from the deeper bottom piece, has a cleanly molded cornice at top, with a pair of wire-front doors, with display shelving inside. The lower case houses a single drawer set along the top, above a pair of wooden doors for closed storage option inside. The cabinet is presented upon bracket carved feet, which give a nice lift and decorative skirting to the front and both sides. The paint is not original, but quite old- possibly from the early 19th century. The primary colors are a burnt orange, golden yellow, and green. The inside paint has been refreshed. Please note that there is some warping to the top right door. This piece breaks down into two pieces, allowing for easier transport and installation. This 18th century Italian tall cabinet is quite a versatile piece, which will offer great storage and display options for just about any room in your home!
