French Neoclassic Period Carved-Wood Chest
This Item Is Is SoldA French Neoclassic period carved-wood commode from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique chest from France has a very softly curved/shallow serpentine front, which is carried from the top and down the along the three drawers at front. Each of the drawers, flanked within rounded front side posts, are adorned with decoratively carved scallops at each side which give this piece a look of movement , brass pulls, and escutcheons at center set within circular-carved mid-sections. The front skirting is carved, and this piece is presented on block style feet, with front feet being rounded as to continue the soft lines of the rounded side posts. The custom bleached finish has been complimented with a cream trim with hints of gold. Please note that there have been some prior repairs to the legs at back with reinforcements. This late 18th century French Neoclassic commode is a versatile 3 feet wide size, and will make a wonderful case piece for your storage and display needs.
