Pair French "Faux Book" End Chests, c. 1900
A French pair of side chests, with leather spined faux-book front tambour doors, from the early 20th century. These antique end tables from France, circa 1900, each feature carved and raised gallery edges along the their top sides and back, a storage area is housed just below the top, and the tambour style door has a wonderful series of "faux books" about its facade, created with real leather book spines. Either side of the storage area have delicate pierce-carved hearts. The skirts have accolade carved scallops about all four sides; giving these chests the ability to be floated within a room. They are each raised on four gracefully curved, slender legs. This antique pair of French tambour door tables will be a great addition to an intimate seating arrangement.
