18th C. French Bleached Buffet à Deux-Corps
A tall French carved and bleached wood display and storage cabinet from the 18th century. This antique hutch cabinet from France features a beautifully geometric design motif with molded top crest over an upper case which houses a pair of wire-front doors that have a decorative upper panel with a secondary raised panel anchoring the bottom, flanked within flute-carved and rounded front side posts. The lower cabinet, which has a deeper depth than the top, houses a pair of squared and raised-panel doors which open to reveal shelving for hidden storage within. The lower side posts are also rounded, with an panel design, and continue on to become feet which give a slight lift off the ground to this piece. The custom bleached finish has a complimentary faint cream accent trim. This French buffet à deux-corps cabinet (which literally translates to “buffet with two bodies”) breaks down into two pieces, allowing for easier transport and installation. The top and bottom stay in place with pegs- which is quite neat. This 18th century buffet à deux-corps, standing just over 7 feet in height and having a wonderful geometric design, will make a beautiful addition to your home with great storage and display potential!
