Late 18th C. French Carved Walnut Commode
A French carved walnut wood chest of three drawers, from the turn of the 18th and 19th century. This antique commode from France houses three cleanly designed and raised paneled drawers, flanked within rounded and decoratively carved paneled front side posts. The skirt is beautifully scalloped about the front and each shorter side, and further embellished with carved volutes, scrolls, and a star carved at center front of apron. The chest is presented upon four nicely carved legs, with front legs being cabriole style with whorl feet. The drawers are each fitted with newer brass ring pulls- and the drawers of this chest are easy to pull open! The medium tone walnut has a lovely patina throughout. Note that there are some stains to the top of the chest (which can be viewed in additional images). This late 18th century French chest is just over 4 feet in width, and would make an attractive case piece in a bedroom as a dresser, or perhaps within a living room anchoring a nice piece of art or mirror above.
