19th C. French Marble Top Enfilade Buffet
A French painted wood sideboard, with flute-carved accents and newer marble top, from the 19th century. This antique buffet console from France has a newer, rectangular-shaped, marble top with canted front corners, set atop a case which houses three recessed-panel front drawers, over three recessed-panel front doors that open to reveal storage within. Fluted carvings enhance the cabinet between the drawers/doors and front, at canted front side posts, and rear side posts. This piece is nicely presented upon spaded front legs, which terminate into brass feet. Each drawer is fitted with a rectangular bail pull and escutcheon, and doors with Neoclassical style escutcheons. The newer marble is primarily white with grey veining. The cabinet has a custom creamy wash of taupe (which still allows the wood grain to be seen from beneath) and a grey color which accents some of the various trimmings. Note that the legs have been strengthened. There are some minor imperfections/streaks in the wood. This 19th century French Neoclassical style enfilade, approximately 5.5 feet in length, offering great storage within and serving or display space atop; perhaps in a dining area as a buffet, or in a living room as an attractive sideboard.
