A Swedish Clock, Painted Accents
A 19th century Swedish clock (commonly referred as a Mora clock) with painted accents. This clock has an unusual shape with its square head decorated with finials at its top and at the level of its neck. Round motifs mark the four sides of the face as well as its sides. The center part of the body is in the shape of a half column that opens up with a door, with a light blue grey painted ring on the neck and an unusual blue Greek key ring at the waist. The lower rectangular part echoes in its decor the top finials and stands on four bracket feet. It is decorated with a painted swag motif. This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object and is not in working condition, but can be quartzed for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful).
