18th Century Swedish Tall Clock

18th Century Swedish Tall Clock | Item# 360

22.5"width 9"depth 81"height

This 18th century Swedish clock, which is sometimes referred to as a Mora Clock, is somewhat unusual with its square head and its original single wooden hand, typical of the earlier clocks, while many Swedish clocks have more of a round face. This clock retains its original metal face, hands and movement. This clock is has a slightly amber color (due to the wood coming through) with grey, light blue, yellow gold highlights and a variety of stylized swag elements on both the head and the body. It also features a keyed door with a glass opening that opens from left to right and a very simple base with feet at each corner. The face features an exposed wood center as well as Roman numerals on the pewter ring, surrounded by angel faces in the four corners. This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object. Though it retains its original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition. However, it can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening.

Price: $5,512.
