An Antique Northern Swedish Clock
A 19th century painted wood Swedish clock. This Swedish clock from the 1820's features a raised flat-top crest, it's original round metal face & movements, a raindrop shaped belly and triangular bottom. There are carved dentil accents about the crest, neck, and underside of the belly (or door). Circular accent details are found at the crest and neck areas. The base is beautifully scalloped and adorn with a carved tassel at it's center. The clock has a scraped finish with nice warm wood tones throughout. This clock would be wonderful as a decorative object. It retains it's original face and hands, though it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful). A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This 19th century Swedish clock would look great in an entryway, bedroom, living room or office.
