Nicely Adorn Swedish Fryksdahl Clock
A 19th century Swedish Fryksdahl clock with elaborate crown. This Fryksdahl clock showcases exquisite carvings throughout, which enhance and accentuate this shapely clock. The crest or crown features a pierced carving of a shining sun on the horizon, delicate leaves and a central star decorate the underside of the face at the neck. The underside of the belly is defined at the waist with belted molding with a carved urn atop and a pair of carved wood fringed tassels which appear to hang below. This nicely curved clock, typical of the Fryksdahl style, rests on a flat base. This clock is dry scraped and showing the wood grain throughout, while a subtle white trim highlights the accent and trim. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Fryksdahl clock would be lovely in a living room, hall or entry.
