Nicely Adorned Swedish Norrbotten Clock
This Item Is Is SoldA 19th century Swedish painted wood floor clock with exquisite carved accents. This Swedish clock from Norrbotten county, Sweden (Northern region) features an exaggerated and raised crest carved in a with pierced quartered design in it's center, atop and surrounded by a leaf motif, above the circular-shaped head. Neck, torso and waist areas are all decorated in wonderful carved foliage accents. The belly is subtly curved with a circular glass center (allowing the pendulum to be viewed) which is set within a surround within a heavily carved floral petals. This clock rests upon on a flat base. This clock would be a wonderful decorative object. Though it retains it's original face and movement, it is not currently in working condition, but can be quartzed to keep perfect time, for an additional cost. A quartz battery would then be added behind the face. The original hands are too heavy to carry the quartz movement, so they would be changed to black hands, similar in style. The clock would then chime (the chime can be turned off even though the sound is quite delightful. A pendulum selected to work with the quartz movement would be added behind the glass opening. This Swedish 1820's Norrbotten county clock would be a fabulous piece for a living room, bedroom, or foyer.
